Message of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Professor Abdul Salaam Azimi, on the Inauguration Occasion of the Supreme Court Website

In today’s modern world, technology can reduce distances and provide people everywhere with immediate information about changes taking place around the world. It is with great pleasure that we now present the implementation of the website of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The Judiciary has a vital role with enormous responsibility to God and the people. The study of our judicial system shows a complicated and complex history, compounded by significant challenges and difficulties. These difficulties, regardless of their causes, have lowered the prestige and effectiveness of our Judiciary and lowered the confidence of those who seek justice.
An important step in reforming our judicial system is improvement in the efficiency and quality of our procedures. After seeking the assistance of God, the Almighty, we look to our judges and their staff to ensure we succeed in our plans for reform. We are not interested in only the appearance of improvement; rather we seek sincere, effective and real change from within. We are dealing with a nation that has been oppressed and destitute; but, our pious, determined and confident citizens yearn for nothing but justice. Fulfilling their wishes depends to a large degree on our ability to do our jobs right. We are determined not to listen to those souls that incite us to evil, but to put in practice our own good souls. Our endeavors and focus should be within the framework of law and regulations while practicing both honesty and integrity. We should refrain from cruelty because, in accordance with the verses of Holy Quran and Hadith (sayings of the holy Prophet), if we do not practice justice nor nullify the truth and do not give right to the rightful owner, then it means we are doing injustice.
We must hear the pleas the oppressed, wipe their tears and put dressings on their wounds and thus carryout our judicial duty in a proper way.
So, we continue working to reform our judicial system in order to improve our service to the public. Presently, we have reviewed more than six thousands cases dealing with a multitude of issues by working to the best of our abilities and for as long as it takes to complete. In addition to the Supreme Court, the lower courts have received special instructions to increase their level of effort in order to promptly resolve the cases before their respective courts. We hope this website provides instructive information about the workings of the judiciary. We would like to thank the American people, working through the United States Agency for International Development, for helping us develop and launch this website. We believe that judiciary should be a transparent institution, available to all people, with open access to information.
Let us be in unison and with one voice express ourselves with the following mottos:
- The People, Police, Attorney General’s Office and the Judiciary should jointly work to ensure justice and fight against corruption.
- Ensuring justice is the basis for security and stability in the country.
- Our goal is to swiftly, effectively, and honestly performing our work and duties.
- Our goal is to achieve the consent of God and the people.

God willing
